InterLinx Power

Privacy Policy

We built this site so there would be almost nothing to write here. This page explains exactly what that means, and what little there is.

The short version

  • No account, ever. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or street address, and there is nothing to sign up for.
  • Your answers live in the web address, not on our servers. Your ZIP code, home type, whether you own or rent, your lease length and your monthly kWh sit in the page URL. We store none of them.
  • No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. This site sets no cookies at all, runs no analytics, and loads no scripts from any other company.
  • One thing is saved on your device: whether you chose light or dark mode. It never leaves your browser.
  • Providers do not learn you came from us. Every outbound link strips the referrer, and none of them carries your ZIP or your answers.
  • We do not sell personal data. Not to anyone, for any price, in any form. Texas residents have rights under the TDPSA, set out in section 12.

This summary is here so the important parts are not buried. The full text below is what actually governs.

1. Who this covers and what it applies to

InterLinx Power is a comparison tool for Texas home services: electricity, internet, television and home security. This policy covers the InterLinx Power website and nothing else. It is written in the first person plural: “we” means InterLinx Power.

It does not cover any provider’s own website. The moment you follow a link out of here, you are on someone else’s property under their privacy policy, and we have no visibility into or control over what happens there. Section 7 explains exactly what they can and cannot see about you at that moment.

2. What you tell us, and what happens to it

The comparison tools ask up to five things. Every one of them is optional in the sense that you can simply not use the tool; none of them identifies you.

  • Your ZIP code. Used to look up which utility delivers electricity to that ZIP, which internet and television providers publicly operate in that metro, and whether the ZIP is in a competitive part of Texas at all.
  • House or apartment. Used to caveat internet and television availability, because a building’s wiring decides more than the street does, and because a satellite dish needs a landlord’s permission.
  • Own or rent. Used to warn about home-security agreements that outlast a tenancy.
  • Months left on your lease. Optional. Used to say how many months past your move-out date a given contract would run.
  • Monthly kWh. Optional. Used to price electricity plans at your real usage rather than a generic figure. Left blank, we assume 1,000 kWh and say so on screen.

Where those answers actually live

They are carried in the web address of the results page and nowhere else. A results URL looks like /compare/results?zip=75201&housing=house&kwh=1200, and that string is the storage. There is no database, no user record, no session, and no profile. Close the tab and the answers are gone; bookmark it and you have kept them yourself, on your own machine.

One consequence worth stating plainly: because the answers are in the URL, they are visible to anyone who can see your screen, and they travel with the link if you share it. If you paste a results link to someone, you are pasting your ZIP code and your answers along with it.

The one request that goes to our server

When you type a complete five-digit ZIP into the comparison tool, your browser sends it to our server to be looked up. The tables behind that lookup are about 2,700 rows for electricity and around a thousand per metro for internet, which is far too much to send to your browser to answer one question about five digits. The server reads those tables, returns a verdict, and keeps nothing. The lookup function is pure: it does not write to disk, does not call any other service, and does not log.

Retention

None, on our side. We have no store to retain anything in. The one exception is not really ours: like any website, ours is served by infrastructure that keeps short-lived operational logs of the requests it handles, which include IP addresses and requested URLs. Since your answers are in the URL, they appear there. Section 8 covers who those companies are and what that means.

3. What we explicitly do not collect

This list is specific on purpose. Policies that say a company “may collect” a category of data are usually covering practices the company has, or wants room to add later. We would rather name the things we do not do, and be held to it.

We do not collect, ask for, receive, or hold:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or street address. There is no field for any of them anywhere on this site.
  • Any account, username, or password. There is nothing to register for and no login.
  • Payment information of any kind. We never take money from visitors.
  • Your Social Security number, driver’s licence, date of birth, or any government identifier: the things a retail electricity provider asks for at enrolment. That conversation happens on their site, not ours.
  • Credit data. We run no credit check and no soft pull, and we do not ask anyone else to run one.
  • Precise geolocation. We never request browser location permission. A ZIP code you typed yourself is the only location signal we use.
  • Device fingerprints, advertising identifiers, or any other cross-site identifier.
  • Your browsing history anywhere else, before or after your visit.
  • Contacts, calendar, photos, files, or anything else from your device.
  • Any sensitive data as Texas law defines it: racial or ethnic origin, religious belief, mental or physical health diagnosis, sexuality, citizenship or immigration status, biometric or genetic data, or precise geolocation. We do not ask for it, and there is no field in which you could give it to us.

We also do not buy, rent, licence, or otherwise acquire personal data about you from data brokers, marketing lists, or any other source. Everything we know about your visit is what you typed into a box on this site during it.

4. Cookies and local storage

Cookies: none

This site sets no cookies. Not essential ones, not preference ones, not analytics ones, not advertising ones. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to and nothing to refuse.

Local storage: one item, for the theme toggle

If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser saves that choice in local storage under the key theme, with a value of light or dark. That is the only thing this site writes to your device.

Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to a network request, so that value is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. It exists so the site does not flash white at you on your next visit. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it, and the site goes back to its light default. We use no session storage and no IndexedDB.

5. Analytics and measurement

There are none. To be specific, this site runs no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Meta pixel or other advertising pixel, no Plausible, Fathom, Matomo, Mixpanel, Amplitude or PostHog, no heatmap or session-recording tool such as Hotjar or FullStory, no A/B-testing or personalisation service, and no client-side error reporting such as Sentry.

We therefore have no dashboard of your behaviour, no funnel, no record of which plans you looked at, and no way to recognise you across visits. The trade is deliberate and it is a real one: we genuinely do not know how many people use this site or where they give up. We would rather not know than build a profile of you to find out.

We also run no advertising on this site, so nothing here is personalised, retargeted, or optimised against you.

6. Third-party code and fonts

No script, stylesheet, image, font, iframe, embedded video, map, chat widget or social button is loaded from another company’s server while you use this site. Every asset comes from our own origin.

Web fonts are worth calling out, because they are the usual quiet leak. This site uses the Geist typeface, which is fetched at build time and served from our own domain. Your browser never contacts Google Fonts, so Google is not told that you visited.

7. Outbound links to providers

Links out of this site go to a provider’s own website, to an Electricity Facts Label published by a retail electricity provider, to a provider’s address-availability checker, or to the Public Utility Commission’s Power to Choose site.

What the destination can see

  • Your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, which any web server necessarily receives from anyone who visits it.
  • The fact that someone requested that page, at that moment.

What the destination does not see

  • That you came from InterLinx Power. Every outbound link on this site carries rel=“noreferrer”, which suppresses the Referer header. The destination sees a visitor arriving with no referring page, exactly as if the address had been typed by hand.
  • Your ZIP code, or any other answer you gave us. Outbound addresses are fixed: a provider’s coverage checker is linked as its plain published address, with nothing of yours appended to it.
  • Any identifier for you. We have none to pass on.

Once you are on their site, their rules apply. Enrolling in a plan means giving a provider the identifying and financial information they need to open an account, which for electricity in Texas usually includes your full name, service address, date of birth and Social Security number, and may involve a credit check. That exchange is between you and them. Read their privacy policy before you start it.

8. Affiliate relationships and who else touches your traffic

How we intend to make money

The plan is affiliate commission: when a visitor enrols with a provider after following a link from this site, that provider pays us a fee. It never changes the price you pay, and you can always go to any provider directly instead.

As of 9 September 2026, no affiliate link on this site is live. Every provider entry in our configuration is marked inactive, and the “View plan” button on every result is disabled. The outbound links that do work today (Facts Labels, provider rate pages, coverage checkers, Power to Choose) are informational and pay us nothing. We are telling you this now so that when it changes, the change is visible rather than assumed.

When commissions do start, they will not touch the ordering of results. Every ranking function in this codebase takes plans and your own inputs and nothing else; none of them receives commission data, and the absence of that parameter is a deliberate guardrail rather than an oversight. Results are ordered by what a plan costs you.

Infrastructure that necessarily sees traffic

We use no third-party service to process personal data. Two companies nevertheless handle your requests by virtue of getting this site to you:

  • Vercel, which hosts the site and serves every page. Its servers receive your IP address, your user-agent, and the URL you requested, and retain them briefly in ordinary operational logs.
  • Cloudflare, which provides DNS for our domain and so resolves our name when your browser asks for it.

Neither is given anything by us beyond what serving a web page requires. We do not send them events, identifiers, or any record of what you did. We have no other processors: no email platform, no CRM, no marketing automation, no ad network, no tag manager, no customer data platform.

9. We do not sell or share your personal data

We do not sell personal data, and we never have. We do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not disclose it to data brokers, advertisers, marketers, lead buyers, or list managers. Nobody pays us for information about you, and no arrangement here is a sale dressed up as something else.

This is easy for us to promise because of how the site is built: there is no store of personal data to sell. Selling leads is the standard business model in this category: the reason so many comparison sites want your phone number is that the phone number is the product. It is not ours, and we would like the absence to be the reason you trust the rankings.

We would disclose information only if compelled by law: a valid subpoena, court order, or legal obligation. In practice we hold almost nothing that could be responsive to one.

We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or targeted advertising, because we do none of those things at all.

10. Children

This site is meant for adults shopping for household services. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, let alone under 13. Given that we collect no identifying information from anyone, we have no practical way to hold a child’s personal data, but if you believe a child has somehow provided us with any, write to privacy@interlinxpower.com and we will look into it and delete whatever we find.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted in transit.

Beyond that, our main security control is architectural: we do not keep a database of personal data, so there is no store of visitor information to be breached, leaked, misconfigured, or stolen. Data that was never collected cannot be exposed. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but the blast radius here is genuinely small, by design rather than by luck.

12. Your rights as a Texas resident

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act gives Texas residents rights over personal data held about them. We honour these requests whether or not the Act strictly compels us to, and we extend the same treatment to residents of any other state who ask.

You have the right to:

  • Confirm and access. Ask whether we process personal data about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Correct. Have inaccurate personal data about you fixed.
  • Delete. Have personal data about you erased.
  • Take it with you. Receive a copy in a portable, readily-usable format where processing is automated.
  • Opt out of the sale of personal data, of targeted advertising, and of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

What the honest answer to most of these will be

We keep no records that identify you, so in almost every case the truthful response to an access or deletion request is that we hold nothing about you to produce or erase. We will still respond, and we will say precisely that rather than ignoring the request. The opt-out rights are similarly moot here: there is no sale to opt out of, no targeted advertising, and no profiling.

How to exercise them

Email privacy@interlinxpower.com and tell us what you want. There is no form to fill in. Because we hold no account for you, there is usually nothing for us to verify: we will not demand identity documents to answer a request about data we do not have, and we will not use anything you send us for a verification for any other purpose.

We will respond within 45 days. If a request is genuinely complex we may extend that once by a further 45 days, and we will tell you within the first 45 why.

If we say no

You may appeal, by replying to our decision or writing again to privacy@interlinxpower.com with the word appeal in the subject. We will respond in writing within 60 days with our decision and the reasoning behind it. If we still decline, you may complain to the Texas Attorney General through the consumer complaint process.

We will never charge you for a request, and we will never treat you differently for making one: there is no service to degrade, but the commitment stands regardless.

13. Global Privacy Control and other opt-out signals

We recognise universal opt-out mechanisms, including Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends one, we treat it as a valid opt-out of the sale of personal data and of targeted advertising.

In practice the signal changes nothing about how this site behaves, because there is nothing for it to switch off: we set no cookies, load no trackers, sell no data, and serve no advertising. The site already does what a GPC signal asks for, for every visitor, whether they send one or not.

14. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the last updated date at the top of this page changes with it. That date is the fastest way to tell whether what you read before still holds.

For a material change (if we ever begin collecting something we do not collect today, add analytics, set a cookie, or introduce a third-party service), we will say so prominently on this page, in plain language, describing what changed rather than only publishing a new version. Several claims here are strong ones, and quietly weakening them would be worse than never having made them.

15. Contact

For anything about privacy, including the rights in section 12, write to privacy@interlinxpower.com. A plain email is enough; you do not need to cite a statute or use particular wording.

For how the comparisons themselves work (where the rate data comes from, what is excluded and why), see our Terms.
